Frome Hospital
DKA have been working with Somerset NHS Primary Care Trust on this project to develop a new community hospital on a greenfield site in Frome Somerset since 2001. The project, originally intended to be PFI funded, has been delivered using NHS Procure 21 partnering with DKA novated to Laing O’Rourke, the trust’s selected Principal Supply Chain Partner.
The new building replaces facilities from the existing outdated Frome Victoria Hospital. Departments include minor injury unit, therapies, outpatients, renal satellite unit, radiology and FM on the ground floor, with administration, 28 bed inpatients and 6 bed birthing centre at first floor level. Our service has included the development of clinical output specifications, adjacencies and area schedules as well as negotiating with stakeholders, user groups, planners and other interested parties.
The building was completed in May 2008.
Minehead Hospital
DKA are working with NHS Somerset and ProCure 21 partner Laing O’Rourke to deliver a new community hospital on a brownfield site in Minehead, Somerset. The new building will include a 20 bed inpatient ward, Minor Injuries Unit, outpatients, diagnostics, mental health, FM, day surgery administration and therapies. The project forms part of Minehead’s ‘New Horizons’ masterplan which will eventually provide new homes, a leisure centre and new facilities for the neighbouring West Somerset College. The project is on site, ahead of programme and expected to be complete by December 2010.
South Petherton Hospital
A new community hospital on the site of the existing South Petherton hospital. This facility is to become a centre of excellence for stroke rehabilitation in the Somerset PCT area, with 24 bed inpatients, health and wellbeing centre, therapies, diagnostics, wheelchair assessment unit and support functions.
Clevedon Community Hospital
DKA are developing the Clevedon Community Hospital for North Somerset NHS Primary Care Trust. The new hospital is planned to provide a range of services that will include:
- MIU
- Outpatient clinics
- Diagnostic testing
- Rehabilitation amd intermediate in-patient care
- Therapeutic and community services
- Resouce Centre
- Potential for future service development
The in-patient care beds will replace rehabilitation beds currently provided in Bristol General Hospital (due to close in Spring 2010), re-provide 8 rehabilitation beds currently provided at North Bristol Trust and provide GP-led admissions avoidance beds. The outpatients and diagnostic areas will be a re-provision of the current facility with significant transfer from the Bristol hospitals.
