Minehead Community Hospital
On 14 February 2011 patients began using the new Minehead Community Hospital, designed by DKA and built by Laing O’Rourke under a Procure 21 contract. The new hospital was handed over to NHS Somerset on 17 November 2010 ahead of programme and within budget. The public open-day held on 29th January was attended by over 1,200 people and received some very positive feedback.
The new building provides a 19 bed Inpatient Ward (predominantly with single, en-suite bedrooms), a Minor Injuries Unit, Outpatients, X-Ray and Ultrasound, a Day Surgery Theatre Suite, Therapy Department, and a Mental Health Unit with Day Centre and Outpatient facilities. It is part of the New Horizons project which is a partnership between NHS Somerset, Somerset County Council and West Somerset Council.
